INDIA – UVbiz, the packaging division of Indian food company MB Industries, has installed the BOBST M6 label press to boost printing capabilities in the country.
The MASTER M6 is designed for the foremost flexibility to print labels, flexible and folding cartons.
The press is said to enable high-quality printing of labels, shrink-sleeves, and flexible packaging. It also has advanced automation features for rapid production and efficient workflow along with increased decorative choices.
Additionally, the BOBST M6 label press has oneECG feature for Extended Colour Gamut printing that ensures less ink and substrate consumption and more time-saving operations.
UVbiz has expertise in short-run flexible packaging and offers a range of products, including in-mould labels, shrink sleeves, wet glue and wraparound labels.
The company serves industries like beverage, confectionery, home and personal care, pet care, agro products, and frozen food segments.
UVbiz managing director Rohit Badlani said: “We felt that other available technologies were not doing enough [for short runs], and lots of start-ups were cropping up at that time.
“Luckily, BOBST was also, at the time, publicizing the idea of going for short-run flexible packaging technology. So, we decided to go for it.”
MB Industries’ packaging division selected the BOBST M6 press based on its flexibility. The company soon recognized the potential of its purchase, which was initially made for short-run flexible packaging, to print supported labels and shrink sleeves.
The machine, which has a 10-second change over time, is the latest addition to its existing Brotech inspection system, DuPont Cyrel fast plate processors and Esko CDI Spark flexo imager capabilities.
Bobst has been a supportive partner for UVBiz since it is not primarily from the packaging industry.
Badlani added: “BOBST has been one of those fantastic partners, which has been with us from day one from the first trial job to executing in India and going through the process of multiple jobs every day.
“It has been fantastic. It is always a message away from us; whenever we are stuck in materials, understanding of the business, BOBST is right there.”
Last month, Bobst announced an investment in new printing, converting, services and, performance innovations to support its customers in digitalizing the packaging supply chain.
The company has introduced a new ‘Tool Management’ solution, which offers ‘unprecedented’ control over the TooLink-equipped dies, integrates tool makers, and helps keeps track of tool performance, maintenance and orders.
