CHINA – Leading provider of packaging equipment, services, and complete solutions, Sidel has designed an aseptic lab filler to be situated in Yili Group‘s specially constructed facility primarily for research and development.
Compact in scale, the aseptic lab filler was conceived to enable Yili to research and test product designs consisting of a small number of bottles with different shapes and sizes.
The line also reportedly allows Yili’s developers to customize any element of the test projects, ranging from the overall product to the specific neck, bottle format or capping.
In addition to the several types of aseptic filling processes for both still and carbonated drinks, this lab line can handle other types of filling processes such as a hot filling.
Yili Group stated that the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic created many challenges during the assembly of the line. However, the installation and technical assistance were conducted remotely via virtual calls by Sidel and executed on the ground by engineers based in Greater China.
Sidel regional sales director China Filippo Fu said: “The launch of the PET versatile Aseptic Lab filler in Yili’s Shanghai innovation center represents the further deepening of the strategic partnership between Yili Group and Sidel, from equipment supplying to all-round cooperation in packaging development, product development, resource and knowledge sharing.”
Last month, Sidel aided the launch of another aseptic production line in Ghana for cocoa processor Niche Cocoa.
The 16,000 bottles per hour aseptic PET line integrates Tetra Pak processing systems technologies and the Sidel Aseptic Combi Predis with dry preform and cap sterilization systems, a sleeve labeler, a shrink-wrapping system and a stretch wrapper.
Sidel also supplied its efficiency improvement tool data acquisition and plant intelligence system. This aims to help its beverage company customers by decreasing unplanned downtime, reducing waste and costs and increasing factory output.
More recently, Sidel launched Bottle Switch, a changeover solution to maximize production uptime and efficiency for the packaging industry.
Designed for the Sidel EvoBLOW range, the Bottle Switch solution can be applied to gravimetric preform feeders, ovens and blowing wheels for switching in preform neck finishes and bottle shapes.
It provides the possibility to select and apply the right equipment process and configuration for every Stock Keeping Unit (SKU), with shortened changeover time during the high-precision and repeatable processes.
According to Sidel, the solution can offer 98% efficiency after every changeover to maintain the bottle quality and production performance.
Bottle Switch is intended to optimize changeovers and maximize the power of Sidel’s blowing machines. It is said to provide a fully robotized mold replacement, carried out by a double mold holder robot.
