UK – Yorkshire-based global food manufacturer, Regal Food Products Group has completed the acquisition of disposable food packaging solutions provider Packaging ‘R’ Us.
The move aligns with the group’s long-term vision of expanding and strengthening its wholesale and foodservice offering while providing a diverse product range within its brand portfolio.
Packaging ‘R’ Us manufactures and supplies a range of disposable food packaging solutions for catering purposes including foil containers, catering foil, disposable utensils and plastic containers. The company is Regal Foods’ first non-food and drink business acquisition.
The Group aims to become a one-stop solution for its customers by delivering finished goods, ingredients and now packaging, strengthening its wholesale and food service offering.
Younis Chaudhry, Regal Food Products Group CEO said: “Following on from our Just Desserts Yorkshire acquisition 18 months ago, we are delighted to be bringing our first non-food and drink business into the Regal group.
“Acquiring Packaging ‘R’ Us will allow us to develop our wholesale arm of the business while offering our customers an eclectic range that will naturally sit alongside our existing products and brands.”
Regal Food Products Group boasts a portfolio of over 400 products spanning multiple brands, including household names Regal Foods and Yorkshire Baking Company.
The group states that the COVID-19 pandemic and Brexit posed challenges that made the need for becoming a “one-stop solution” apparent.
Chaudhry adds that the deal was an “extremely exciting milestone”, which included relocating Packaging ‘R’ Us and its production to the group’s main manufacturing and distribution facilities in Bradford.
“As a business that has the Bradford community close to its heart, we are pleased the new production site will create approximately 20 new jobs, offering employment in a range of keys areas, whilst providing platforms and opportunities for personal development,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Junuary last year, Regal Food acquired Just Desserts, a Shipley-based company specializing in hand-crafted desserts, including tarts, cakes and pastries for distribution to restaurants, cafes and retail outlets.
Established in 1985, Just Desserts has a range of artisanal desserts that include tarts, cheesecakes and gateaux which are well-established within restaurants, cafes, and retail outlets.
