UK – US-based adhesives manufacturing company, H.B. Fuller, has announced the acquisition of adhesive company Beardow Adams, expanding its global reach.
Founded in 1976, Beadow Adams is a proven multinational adhesive manufacturer with adhesives that are present across the world in millions of everyday items.
H.B. Fuller said the acquisition of the company will open it to a sales presence represented by Beardow Adams in more than 70 countries and 20,000 end-user applications.
The company added that Beardow Adams has manufacturing capabilities across Europe and the US and is recognized for its commitment to quality.
Jim East, executive vice president of hygiene, health and consumable adhesives said: “Combining the two companies is an exciting move toward H.B. Fuller’s goal of strengthening our leadership position in the markets and regions we serve.
“This helps us expand our customer base and technology portfolio to address today’s megatrends, such as e-commerce, food safety and sustainability. As we combine our businesses, we will be a stronger force in the adhesives industry.”
H.B Fuller’s strategy to expand its global reach comes at a time when the global adhesive market is projected to amass a revenue of US$6.2 billion by 2033, with sales growing at a restored and positive CAGR of 6.1% from 2023 to 2033.
The estimated growth for the forecast period can be attributed to heightened demand from various end-use sectors like packaging, healthcare, food and beverages, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals, among others. The packaging industry, particularly, generates strong demand for laminating adhesives.
The rising awareness of the advantages of flexible packaging such as its lightweight aspect, easier handling, less space requirement, smoother transportation, extended shelf life, protection from damage, and improved printability further promotes the demand for flexible packaging which, in turn, has a positive impact on the laminating adhesive market.
Since packing is one of the important factors that manufacturing enterprises take into consideration before venturing into the production process, the market for laminating adhesives looks at positive growth in the forthcoming years.
Meanwhile, the news is the latest developments at H.B. Fuller. In March, the adhesive provider joined the multi-industry RecyClass initiative as part of efforts to improve its sustainability.
The non-profit RecyClass initiative brings together stakeholders from the entire plastics value chain to make plastic packaging more recyclable, as well as increase the uptake of recycled plastic.
