GreenSeed names Don Reed as new CEO to boost growth and sustainability

UK – GreenSeed Contract Packaging, a provider of sustainable external packaging for the food and beverage industry, has announced the return of Don Reed as its CEO.

As part of the transition, Reed has outlined an ambitious plan to grow GreenSeed’s revenue while simultaneously investing in new infrastructure, strategies, and equipment designed for a more sustainable future.

Reed, also an owner and founder of the company, brings nearly three decades of experience in the contract packaging industry to his role.

He emphasized GreenSeed’s dedication to sustainable packaging innovation and its significant role in supporting sustainability efforts.

The company has a proven track record of working closely with customers to meet product launch deadlines while prioritizing sustainability.

Reed expressed his enthusiasm about resuming his position as CEO and continuing GreenSeed’s legacy, stating: “I’m thrilled to be back as CEO to lead GreenSeed into a new era of growth and development. We have a talented management team ready to seize this opportunity.”

Investment in facilities, equipment, and strategies

As part of his ambitious plan, Reed has outlined a comprehensive investment strategy for GreenSeed.

The company will be allocating significant resources to upgrade its facilities and equipment, allowing for faster and larger-scale production of recyclable, sustainable packaging solutions.

This expansion will enable GreenSeed to meet the increasing demand from its customers while upholding the highest standards of food safety and quality.

In addition to expanding warehouses and increasing plant capacities, GreenSeed is heavily focused on enhancing its sustainability capabilities throughout all aspects of the business.

With sustainability requirements becoming increasingly stringent, the company is focused on assisting consumer packaged goods (CPG) customers in meeting these demands.

By providing innovative and eco-friendly packaging solutions, GreenSeed says, the company aims to help its clients keep pace with evolving sustainability standards.

With the return of Don Reed as CEO, GreenSeed Contract Packaging is poised for a new phase of growth and development.

Meanwhile, in March, amid labor shortage brought on by the pandemic, the company turned to automation on the line in positions that could be easily replaced and even performed more efficiently by a robot or collaborative robot (cobot) to drive distribution efficiencies while keeping costs down.

Though purchasing a robot or cobot was not what the company had in mind. They decided renting was the way to go.

Formic—a Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) provider, headquartered in San Pablo, Calif.—designed, deployed, and maintains uptime for GreenSeed’s first palletizing systems as a rental system.
