SWITZERLAND – Aptar CSP Technologies (Auburn, AL), part of AptarGroup Inc., will showcase two delivery system technologies designed to enhance the stability of powder- and oil-based probiotic products at Vitafoods Europe 2023.
The first technology, Avanti addresses the probiotic mixology market, integrating Aptar CSP’s proprietary Activ-Polymer™ platform technology as an internal molded part inside a bottle cap containing dry powder probiotics.
This cap keeps the probiotic powder separated from the water in the bottle until the user activates the cap, which then drops the powder into the liquid where it disperses.
The active material molded into the cap protects the probiotic powder against moisture and other environmental conditions that can impact potency and shelf life.
For oil-based probiotics, Aptar CSP will preview its Neo technology, a material science solution that is fully submerged in oil to create a customized microclimate to adsorb latent moisture. It features Aptar CSP’s Activ-Film technology.
Delivered as a small sphere molded from a unique Activ-Polymer formulation, Neo offers increased moisture-absorption capacity relative to the Activ-Film solution and can help mix the ingredients upon shaking. This solution ensures optimal probiotic stability without impacting user experience.
Badre Hammond, the company’s vice president of global commercial operations GM, APAC, in the press release, said: “We developed Avanti and Neo to give manufacturers more tools to deliver innovative strains in different formats so they can grow their business.”
Aptar’s solutions are designed to protect products, extend shelf life, and improve user experience.
In addition, at Vitafoods Europe, Aptar CSP will give a presentation advising how to use active material science solutions to optimize probiotic formulations for overall cost savings.
This presentation, “Optimizing Probiotic Formulations: Use of Active Packaging to Minimize Overages, Reduce Costs, and Improve Margins.”
Guerlain collaboration

Meanwhile, the company has also collaborated with Guerlain to develop a high-performance, luxury pump for its new Terracotta Le Teint foundation.
Building on a long-established relationship, the Evolux treatment pump was extensively tested with Geurlain’s advanced formula with Aptar’s Applied Science Department to ensure optimal formula compatibility and flawless dispensing.
The pump also graces Guerlain’s Parure Gold rejuvenating foundation, launched at the end of 2022.
Evolux is Aptar Beauty’s best-selling, premium pump for the luxury market. Designed for prestige skincare and makeup products, it offers a high-end user experience and a sophisticated aesthetic finish.
Evolux’ Alpha cartridge is POM-free and has a metal-free pathway. It is the only cartridge on the market perfectly adapted to the specific features of next-generation formulations like Terracotta Le Teint.
