Mitsubishi HiTec Paper unveils new generation of matte-coated inkjet papers

GERMANY – Biefield-based company, Mitsubishi HiTec Paper has unveiled two new generations of matte-coated inkjet papers.

Mitsubishi HiTec Paper says that the new generation of matt inkjet papers is available in basis weights between 70 and 228 g/m2.

These papers feature a homogeneous surface and an optimized coated ink-receiving layer designed for a higher optical ink density, notes the company.

As such, they are said to allow for printing in vivid color, particularly in dark and black shades.

According to the firm, the entire range is suitable for both dye and pigment inks and is available with FSC Mix or PEFC certification.

In addition, two new premium matt-coated inkjet papers are available, especially for use as face material for label applications: jetscript MH 7086 L and MH 9086 L

These form part of the MH 86 paper range, which is set to replace the previous MH 84 as the product range is optimized.

Other replacements include the MD 86 double-sided premium matt-coated paper range, which will replace the MD 84; and the ML 85 and DL 85 matt-coated and double-sided matt-coated ranges, respectively, in place of the ML 84 and DL 84.

Direct mailings, photographs and photo books, publishing and brochures, and large-format and poster prints both in retail and at the point of sale are also considered application areas for jetscript papers.

Meanwhile, the company collaborated with Smurfit Kappa in 2019 to create a new type of recyclable food-safe packaging.

The collaboration gave rise to a package that featured Smurfit Kappa’s MB12 solution which has built-in adsorption technology, protecting against aromas and possible migration of substances on the outside.

The inner packaging, which contains Mitsubishi HiTec Paper’s BARRICOTE barrier paper, offers protection against moisture and grease and has heat-sealing properties.

Based in Germany, Mitsubishi HiTec Paper is a German subsidiary of Mitsubishi Paper Mills Ltd., Japan, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of specialty paper

Employing roughly 730 employees, the company produces high-quality direct thermal, inkjet, carbonless, label and barrier papers for flexible packaging at two tradition-rich locations in Bielefeld and Flensburg.

Each factory stands out for its own base paper production, state-of-the-art production machinery and innovative coating technologies.

Through its dense global sales network, the firm supplies a full range of specialty papers for many applications and printing technologies – and is a highly capable partner whenever customized coated paper solutions are required.
