ITALY – Greatview Aseptic Packaging has completed the acquisition of assets of Alternapak Production Srl at San Pietro in Italy, as it aims to expand globally.
The facility in Italy ceased production earlier this year after having established a solid track record as a key supplier of aseptic cartons to leading players in the liquid food industry in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas over many years.
The newly acquired production facility will be Greatview’s fifth plant globally and is a milestone in the Group’s international expansion strategy. Production is expected to commence towards the end of this year.
Victor Lee, International Business Director of Greatview, stated: “This acquisition manifests our commitment to expand our international business and to enhance our penetration to new and existing customers.
“It also enables us to be even closer to our customers in the region. This will help us to further improve supply chain security and to increase our service levels.
“Thus, the acquisition will enable us to further strengthen our position as a trusted and reliable partner to our customers in the liquid dairy and non-carbonated beverage industry. I look forward to welcoming the team in Italy to the wider Greatview family.”
Providing a second production facility in Europe alongside its site in Halle (Saale), Germany, the facility in Italy will meaningfully increase Greatview’s production capacity of aseptic carton packs in Europe.
In order to achieve the target of recommencing production before the end of this year, the focus over the coming months will be to integrate the Italian production site into Greatview’s international production network.
Meanwhile, the company in collaboration with INEOS and UPM Biofuels to launch aseptic carton with bio-based polymer coating.
The aseptic packaging material is reportedly laminated with bio-attributed, mass-balanced polymers made by INEOS, which incorporate tall oil-based bio-naphtha from UPM Biofuels.
In addition, to ensure low environmental impact manufacturing, Greatview’s Halle factory in Germany runs with 100% green electricity.
The factory is equipped with modern, resource-efficient production lines and is certified according to ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management), in conjunction with other standards.
